There are plenty of sad songs with the word “home” in them. However, I’m convinced that if all of those musicians lived in this Home of the Week — the Ashford plan at Willowsford by Beazer Homes — they’d have nothing but great things to say about home.
“When people see the plan, they always comment on how livable and well-appointed it is,” says Laura Petrakis, Beazer Homes Willowsford’s onsite new home counselor. “We always get really excellent feedback on the plan.”
Located in the Willowsford community in Aldie, Va., the Ashford plan is 3,090 sq. ft., with four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage. The Craftsman-style two-story home has an open floor plan, with a spacious kitchen that leads into the dining and family areas. “The kitchen is really the highlight of the whole house,” Petrakis says. “It’s just a really great place that people can see themselves entertaining family and friends.”
The plan’s family room can be converted to fit a buyer’s needs by making it into a fifth bedroom, media room or a study.
While the plan includes an unfinished basement, buyers can upgrade to a finished basement that can accommodate a bedroom, bathroom and wet bar. Other upgrades include a sunroom, a garage for a third car and an in-law suite on the main level. The plan is exclusive to the Willowsford community, Petrakis says.
Amenities that make home feel like vacation
“Willowsford is so different from any place in northern Virginia, yet it’s so close to everything,” Petrakis says. “It’s like you’re on vacation because of all of the amenities.”
Those include a resort-style pool with cabanas, a kid’s pool, a boat house where residents can rent kayaks and canoes, walking trails, tot lots, dog parks and, soon, a lodge that will house a state-of-the-art fitness center and where home owners can take cooking classes. “The basic idea is that you are in a retreat when you go home,” Petrakis says. “Willowsford is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle from the city.”
But if you miss the hustle and bustle …
Aldie is located just 37 miles from Washington, D.C., and 75 miles from Baltimore, Md. Shopping and dining are conveniently located to the community and two golf courses are located nearby.
There’s plenty of history in the Village of Aldie, Va., which was a strategic location for early settlers. The village honors its history with a historic district that has buildings that date back to 1775. In May, the village hosts the Treasures on the Turnpike Festival and the Harvest Festival in October.
“Where energy savings comes standard with every home.”
All houses built by Beazer Homes are Energy Star-certified — the builder has a third party test and verify the performance of its homes. Energy-efficient features come standard with each home to save homeowners on energy bills — a tight envelope and six-point insulation are just a few. “If we’re going to build houses, we want to build them the right way,” Petrakis says. “We just see offering energy-efficient features standard as the right thing to do.”
