Are you a wine enthusiast who regularly buys wine by the case and needs somewhere to store it? Or do you dream of becoming a serious wine collector? Then consider installing a wine cellar in your home. Don’t have an actual cellar? Not a problem — almost any room in your house can be turned into a wine cellar.
Gothic Wine Palace
Who knew blue LED-lit acrylic wine storage could be this cool? This blue gothic wine wonderland created by Jamie Beckwith of Beckwith Interiors for a Nashville, Tenn., pool house features clear acrylic arches that act not only as wine storage but also as a spectacular lighting feature.
The temperature-controlled, 2,000-bottle wine cellar is set beneath the pool house’s living area. A glass floor allows the cellar to be viewed from above and when the wine cellar is not lit up, a retractable black shade covers the ceiling to keep out unnecessary light.
California Chic
Simplicity and elegance meet in this charming and chic custom wine cellar by Nadia Elgrably of Nadia Designs for a Laguna Beach, Calif., home.
Visible from the homeowners’ living room and entryway, the climate-controlled wine cellar integrates acacia and Maplewood wine racks, marble counters, a copper leaf lighting fixture, and a copper penny mosaic tile floor for an inviting space to display and enjoy their wine collection.
An antique glaze on the hand-applied copper leaf ceiling provides a hint of Old World allure while the large floor vase filled with the owners’ cork collection adds a playful touch.
Efficient By Design
Don’t think you have the space for a wine cellar? Think again.
Left: This exquisite wine cellar was designed by Jake Austad of Vintage Cellars for a San Diego chef to house a portion of his impressive wine collection — 1,500 select vintages. A converted bedroom, the wine cellar was conceived as a place for guests to view and taste wine.
Right: This wine cellar in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., packs plenty of wine storage into a narrow space with unfinished mahogany wine racks manufactured by Tillson, N.Y.-based WineRacks.com. The efficient design includes custom track lighting and a cooling system to keep the wine at optimum temperature.
Contemporary Elegance
The RESERVE Wine Rack Systems from diamondLife lend a sleek elegance to this Pittsburgh, Pa., home’s contemporary and elegant wine room.
Designed for maximum use of the space to store and display the owners’ collection, the wine racks include a combination of bottle positions, including presentation view, label view, and standing view, to provide space for wine glasses, decanters, and other tasting accessories. That includes a special display of Moet & Chandon champagne.

Capturing Tradition
The stars aligned perfectly in this remarkably beautiful wine cellar.
Designed by Mark J. Karpinski of WineRacks.com in collaboration with the homeowner and the homeowner’s wine broker, this wine cellar evokes a traditional wine cave through the use of stone and brickwork and special touches like a metal chandelier.
To hold this 2,000-plus bottle collection, classic mahogany wine racks and special wine case shelving line the room, leading to the cellar’s centerpiece: a waterfall and marble tasting table with rounded display shelves.

Classic Showcases
Two California wine cellars, two different, yet classic, visions.
Left: The wine cellar in this Ventura, Calif., home makes the most out of a small space with diamondLife’s RESERVE Wine Rack Systems. The wine cellar door featuring a wrought-iron grapevine motif adds a traditional touch to the polished chrome of the wine racks.
Right: With a 4,000-bottle capacity, this two-story San Diego, Calif., wine cellar — designed by Jake Austad of Vintage Cellars — is pure Old World charm with custom wine racks made from all-heart redwood with a “dusty” finish.
Zen Showpiece
This Pennsylvania home’s elegant, glass-enclosed wine cellar from Wine Cellar Innovations exudes a certain Zen quality.
The simplicity of the wine racks and the center art alcove subtly draw guests in to peruse the 2,000-plus bottle collection.
The racking system is made of unstained all-heart redwood from Wine Cellar Innovations’ Platinum Series and includes wine case shelves, diamond bins, and, on the top left, secured wine lockers for storing those especially valuable bottles.

Dine-In Cellar
Wine tastings take center stage in this Ohio home’s wine cellar from Wine Cellar Innovations.
A full dining table provides ample room for guests to sample from the homeowner’s nearly 2,500-bottle collection. A bar workstation with a sink and wine glass racks provides space for decanting and food preparation.
The wine racks are all-heart redwood with a dark walnut finish giving the room a sophisticated and stately feel.
