Top Breweries in Denver

craft beer

It’s no secret that Denverites love their beer. It’s also no secret that Denver is home to some of the best breweries in the country. In fact, beer lovers will find around 70 breweries to satisfy their taste buds.

To help you find your favorite Denver brewery, we’ve created a list of the top six breweries that the Mile High City has to offer.

Breckenridge Brewery

The third-oldest craft brewery in the state, Brecekenridge Brewery was founded by Richard Squire in Breckenridge, Colo. After a series of changes and moves, including to a space on Kalamath Street, the brewery now resides on a 12-acre production site in Littleton, Colo.

Its popular Nitro Vanilla Porter is just one of the brewery’s Nitro. It combines the taste of chocolate with hefty caramel and coffee notes. The ales over the years have developed their own reputation, making Denver one of the top places in which to scavenge for beer.

Briar Common

A fairly new addition to Denver’s beer scene, Briar Common has melted the hearts of many people who live in the Jefferson Park area. The classy décor of chandeliers light up the nights, while plentiful windows brighten the brewery/gastropub during the days, making this spot a perfect getaway from hectic schedules. Popular brews are Rochus and American Porter. These tasty beers, carefully paired with mouth-watering delicacies from the gastropub’s menu make the perfect meal.

Crooked Stave

As the name implies, this brewery isn’t a straight-laced brewery. Crooked Stave looks at experimental ways to add to the quirkiness that Colorado boasts. A warehouse look, along with its location with a bakery, coffeehouse and an art gallery, gives the brewery’s location added appeal for visitors. There’s nothing better than a beer in hand, while enjoying the talented endeavours of local artists.

Crooked Stave’s primary focus lies in creating sour barrel-aged brews such as the Wild Wild Brett Rouge made from hawthorn berries, rosehips and the nectar of tropical fruits.

Denver Beer Co.

In Denver, it’s quite ambitious to plan to produce the best seasonal beer possible. But, Denver Beer Co. endeavours to do this every day by combining local ingredients to craft unique brews. They produce smaller, limited batches and switch off their taps to these brews on a weekly basis. This unique concept is gaining traction with locals, who flock to the brewery to get a taste before the beers are gone. The brewery takes their layout inspiration from Bavarian gardens and has a beautiful layout outside for people to relax and enjoy their beer during summer and spring.

Bierstadt Lagerhaus

Resurrecting an 84-year-old brewery located in Germany, Bierstadt Lagerhaus’ two founders Bill Eye and Ashleigh Carter have worked hard to make it one of the most popular attractions in Denver. They believe in simplicity, which is why each pint contains only four ingredients: water, yeast, malt and hops. The traditionally brewed beers are what put them on this list.

Renegade Brewing Company

In a screen-focused world, interacting face-to-face has started to lose its lustre. That’s why Renegade Brewery has chosen a taproom without the distraction of TV screens, making it easy to chill with your buddies or make new ones.

Just seven years old, this brewing company has already won medals and their service is excellent. Their popular brew is the Wheat Wine, which mingles earthy caramelized malt with the sour taste of hops to make a beer worth savoring with each sip.
